RACE FAQs Is there a relay option? Yes, there is a relay option for both distances.
Is there a Clydesdale and/or Athena division? Yes, for both races. To compete in the Clydesdale division, a man must be 200 lbs. plus. To compete in the Athena division, a woman must be 145 lbs. plus.
Do I have to have an XID to race? You'll be assigned one automatically if you don't already have one, no charge!
Is this a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event? Yes, as such, you must have a valid annual USAT license or purchase a one day license at packet pick up for $10. Can I have someone else pick up my packet? Unfortunately, this is not an option. Each racer must pick up his or her own packet. USAT rules require each participant to provide a valid photo ID when picking up there packet. Will race day registration be available? NO. Since this race occurs federal land, there are various policies by which we must abide, including no race day registration. Sorry.
Will wetsuits be allowed? As in year's past, a decision will be made based on water temperatures race weekend. Do note that In the past, wetsuits have been allowed based on water temperatures on race morning. Can I ship my bike for assembly and then again to return home? Yes. As soon as we have secured our bike sponsor, we will note a contact and phone number so athletes can secure delivery and set-up of your bike. COURSE FAQs Is it technical?
Not too bad, however it is not a fast loop. There are lots of sharp turns which will cause a reduction in your average speed. There are also a few rocky sections which will slow you down....not ledgy, just rocky.
How will the course be marked? The bike course will be marked with blue directional arrows, the run course with red arrows.
Is there a bike hand up? NO. However, racers will be able to keep a bag at the halfway point of the bike leg which they can place prior to race start.
What if I get a flat tire? This is a self-supported race, you must be prepared to deal with your own mechanical issues during the race. We hope to have a bike mechanic on-hand prior to race start, but this is yet to be confirmed. |
